How To Pick a Television Wall Mount
You've bought your family a new LCD TV that you are looking to mount on the wall. But how will you know what is the very best mount for what you need? The following article has some things to keep in mind when you're shopping for an LCD TV wall mount.
At one time, each wall mount and TV manufacturer had their own set up, so it was much harder to find out what wall mount went with your TV. Right now, however, all the manufacturers have agreed on a basic mounting system and this permits consumers to purchase universal TV wall mounts. This can not only save time and money, but the holes that are pre drilled in the back of the new TVs make installation far less involved than it used to be.
Once you get your average universal TV mount kit, you will see brackets that go on the back of the TV and a wall plate that goes on the wall. The brackets are made specifically to fit the pre drilled holes that are in the back of the TV.
Even though they are universal kits in their hardware, there are options on the market that you're going to want to look at prior to buying one. To illustrate, if you're looking for an overall clean look, you should try the basic, standard wall mount. The standard mount is going to keep the TV display within one inch of the wall. However, you should keep in mind that, with this style, you will not be able to tilt the TV in any way so you need to be mindful about where you mount it on the wall, considering where you'd like the prime viewing area to be.
If you're thinking that you might want to adjust the TV's angle, then you should check out a tilt mount. The style is a lot like the standard model, but the TV display is affixed a little further away from the wall. The extra space lets the display be adjusted. The degree of tilt will vary, depending on the make and model of the mount.
If you decide on the tilt model you'll need to consider the way the wall mount moves. A few mounts will move with only your hand because it moves on a ratchet system. Other models require a special device to move the TV display's angle. If you think you're going to be moving the TV every so often, it is probably worth the added expense to look into the ratchet system for convenience and easiness of the movement.
If you would like to be able to move to different places in the room and not have to sit on the exact same part of the couch each time you watch television, you may want to purchase a wall mount that allows the television to be moved away from the wall and adjusted and tilted for nearly infinite positions. These are referred to as cantilever wall brackets.
So, if you're shopping for TV wall brackets, make certain you look at all the areas the television will be seen so you can purchase the one that works the best for you.
