To rottweilers mouthing is just a means of communicating - by taking your hand into his mouth for getting your attention, but in much gentler way than a bite. It is recommended to mend this mouthing habit of your rotweiler at an early age

Usually rottweiler puppies mouth our hands when excited or when playing and puppies more often do this more to children than adults. And it is up to you to control this behavior of your puppy. The subsequent ways are suggested for most puppies up to 4 months of age, depending upon their size.

Initially, a rottwieler will use his mouth to investigate his surroundings. Throughout the teething process, it gives the dog relief to chew on all kinds of items, soft and hard.

Providing suitable items for a rottweiller to concentrate on can at times be a simple way of solving a mouthing problem. Undestroyable chew toys like large nylon bones or hard rubber Kongs can provide a positive solution for mouthing. You can also use frozen carrots or fiber bones for satisfying chewing needs of your pups.

If your puppy is chewing on you, the instant the pressure raises use your "hurt puppy' sound leaving your hand in his mouth. Once the pressure is released, slowly remove your hand.

You might desire to offer the back of your hand for your puppy to lick. By doing this, not only are you teaching him that our skin is tender, but also that you expect a sign of deference (licking your hand) for their action.

Praise him in a calm manner if his response is immediate and provide him a suitable chew toy. Do not give a toy when your hand is still in his mouth, or you will be rewarding the wrong habit. Another technique which can be used is to train your pup to understand your commands and gestures.

Does your puppy begin mouthing you if you don't play when he desires to? Is he continually tripping you up, or starting to play tug-o-war with the leash when youre taking him to walk? Is he uncooperative when you direct him to do something like not to jump or bite? If your answer is 'yes' to these questions, you may have a bossy or dominant pup. With this type of pup you have to exercise a little more discipline.
