November is a time when the days grow shorter, and we begin to long for the warmth of the holiday glow. To feel this magical atmosphere, I visited Kindelbrück for the Advent floral exhibition at the florist’s shop Creativ Floristik, Christopher Ernst — Germany’s Floristry Champion of 2022. This event was not just a showcase of masterful skills but a true celebration for the senses and the heart.
Christopher Ernst – A Master in the World of Flowers
Before I present about the exhibition itself, it’s worth getting to know this extraordinary artist better. Christopher Ernst is not only a master florist but also a leader and mentor who has inspired the German floristry community for years.
Key milestones of his career:
- German Floristry Champion 2022 – Award that opened doors to an international career.
- Examiner and juror at numerous floristry competitions.
- Member of the Competition Committee and the Federal Garden Exhibition of the German Florists' Association since 2022.
- Active member of the German Florists’ Association (FDF) Hesse-Thuringia, serving on the board since 2021.
The florist’s shop Creativ Floristik, which Ernst has run since 2008, is a place where floristry becomes true art. Accompanying him on this beautiful journey is his wife Jessica, together creating an atmosphere of warmth and family spirit.
The Advent Exhibition: From Classic to Modern
The magic was already palpable before entering the florist’s shop. A crowd of people, smiles, conversations over mulled wine and sweets — all of it created a festive mood. At the entrance, we were greeted by Christopher himself, full of energy and kindness as always.
The exhibition was a true display of floral mastery. What made this event stand out?
- Naturalness and warmth – natural materials dominated: fir branches, pinecones, moss, and delicate dried flowers.
- Contrasting combinations – he isn’t afraid of bold pairings. Decorations with black accents — his favorite color — were particularly striking.
- A wide range of styles – from traditional Advent wreaths and classic arrangements to modern installations that amazed with their form and precision.
A Family Atmosphere and Floral Emotions
The most beautiful part was that the exhibition became a gathering place for entire families. People strolled, savoring the sight of the extraordinary arrangements. Every detail was meticulously crafted, and guests felt like part of this magical space.
Ernst created more than just a floral exhibition — it was a journey through various facets of Christmas, filled with warmth, inspiration, and community.
The Magic That Brings People Together
Leaving Kindelbrück, I felt grateful for this unique experience. In January, I’ll meet Christopher again at the IPM trade fair in Essen, where floristry talents from all over the world gather annually. In August next year, he will represent Germany at the World Cup Floral Art 2025 in The Hague, Netherlands.
Floristry is not just about art; it’s primarily about people — their stories, passions, and experiences. Meeting Christopher showed me the value of being open to the world. Every conversation and smile adds something beautiful to our lives.
